Each member of a bourgeois family is seduced by a strange young man. How would their lives alter if he suddenly leaves?
Terence Stamp, Laura Betti, Silvana Mangano, Massimo Girotti, and Anne Wiazemsky feature in Pier Paolo Pasolini‘s 1968 Italian allegorical film Teorema, also known as Theorem (UK). It was Pasolini’s sixth film and the first time he used mostly professional performers. An upper-class Milanese family is introduced to, and then abandoned by, a heavenly power in this film. The everlasting nature of religion and the spiritual degradation of the bourgeoisie are among the themes explored.
