When an open-minded Jewish waiter and his kid become Holocaust victims, he employs a perfect combination of determination, humor, and creativity to defend his son from the perils that surround their camp.

Life Is Beautiful (Italian: La vita è bella) is a 1997 Italian comedy-drama film directed and starring Roberto Benigni, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Vincenzo Cerami. Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian bookshop owner, uses his inventive imagination to protect his kid from the horrors of detention in a Nazi concentration camp, is played by Benigni. The film was inspired in part by Rubino Romeo Salmon’s book, In the End, I Beat Hitler, and by Benigni’s father, who endured two years in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp during World War II.
