The Phantom of the Opera is a 1998 Italian horror film directed by Dario Argento, based on Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel Le Fantôme de l’Opéra. There are, however, significant variations between the novel and the picture (the biggest being that the Phantom is not disfigured).
