A psychotic admirer stalks a young opperata with the intent of murdering anybody affiliated with her in order to claim her for himself. Dario Argento’s 1987 Italian giallo film Opera (also known and distributed as Terror at the Opera) stars Cristina Marsillach, Urbano Barberini, Daria Nicolodi, and Ian Charleson. The narrative revolves around a young singer (Marsillach) who becomes entangled in a series of murders committed by a masked assassin within an opera venue. Brian Eno, Claudio Simonetti, and Bill Wyman created and performed music for the film. One of Argento’s most commercially successful pictures, Opera, sold 1,363,912 tickets in his home Italy. It is the second Dario Argento horror film to gain THX audio and picture quality certification.
