Corrado and Little Simone Jurgens: How Fantastico 3 Made Carletto a 1979 Sensation
This song, sung by Corrado Mantoni, Italian TV host, author, radio presenter, and lyricist, and little Simone Jurgens, the son of Stefano Jurgens, one of the authors, tells the story of a father scolding a very mischievous child named Carletto, a real little rascal. Released in 1983 from the collaboration between Romano Bertola, Stefano Jurgens, Corrado Mantoni, and Riccardo Mantoni, it has quite a peculiar history. Originally, it was written by Stefano Jurgens for Mike Bongiorno, who was immediately enthusiastic about it and even wanted to perform it at Sanremo as a guest.
However, he later gave up after his wife Daniela opposed the idea. Then Corrado, who had already recorded a demo, was chosen as the performer, and together with Simone he sang the song on Fantastico 3. The little tune was so popular with the audience that it quickly shot to the top of the charts and even became a gold record. Corrado was delighted and proudly claimed that he had managed to achieve great success in the music world without actually knowing how to sing, but simply by performing the lyrics.
