Domiduca and Domitius

| |

The goddess Domiduca guards children on their walk back to their parents’ house in Roman mythology.

Domitius, Domidius, or Domiducus was her male counterpart and he was from the term domus. On the wedding night, the bride and groom were escorted by the marriage gods Domiduca and Domiducus as they made their way to their new abode together. The names are used as epithets for Juno and Jupiter. After being guided home, the bride is “installed in her abode by the deity Domitius.”
