Di Penates

The household deities most frequently summoned in domestic rites were the Di Penates or Penates.

After a meal, the family put a little onto the hearth fire for the Penates. As a result, they shared a connection with Vesta, the Lares, and the Genius of the pater familias in the “small world” of the domus. The Penates had a secular equivalent, just like other domestic deities.
