The Best Places to Ski in Italy 2025

There are many reasons to visit Italy, from beautiful, cobbled towns to gourmet eateries and historical monuments (and everything in between!). However, Italy is also famed for its variety of ski resorts that have good snow records and long seasons. This means that Italy is also one of the most popular ski destinations in Europe, with many excellent resorts to choose from. Here is a look at the best Italy ski holiday destinations for 2025.

Courmayeur

Courmayeur is an iconic resort situated at the foot of the stunning Mont Blanc – the highest mountain in the Alps and Western Europe. The slopes stretch from a base altitude of 1224m up to peaks of 2755m, offering some of the best skiing in the country. The town offers gourmet restaurants, from 13-course tasting menus to traditional delicacies in Alpine huts – the perfect way to recharge after a thrilling day on the slopes.

Cervinia

Cervinia shares the Matterhorn massif with its Swiss neighbour – Zermatt, which is another hugely popular ski resort. Cervinia has some of the highest pisted ski areas in all of Europe for a thrilling ski experience at high altitudes. Despite its location, most of the runs are easy to mid-range intermediate, making it a suitable resort for all abilities. There are also plenty of bars for apres-ski as well as restaurants and upmarket hotels with a range of facilities. This means there is lots to keep you entertained on and off the slopes, and it is much more affordable than neighbouring resorts.

Livigno

Livigno is lesser known than other resorts, but this makes it somewhat of a hidden gem, found high in the Alps near the Swiss border. It is a high-altitude haven, boasting tax-free shopping and great snow conditions. The Carosello 3000 ski area should not be missed – it has a good variety of terrain and a booming apres-ski scene, so if you enjoy a lively party after a day on the slopes, this is the perfect place to stay.

Sestriere

Home to the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, the purpose-built resort of Sestriere sits at the heart of Piedmont’s ViaLattea, which connects seven mountain villages to 400km of runs. It is one of the most snow-sure destinations in Europe, with a variety of runs to suit all skiing abilities. There are a fair few professionals who come here to train, too, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

These are the best Italy ski holidays for 2025. Italy boasts many of the best ski resorts in all of Europe, each with its own characteristics, slopes, and facilities. If you want to hit the slopes soon, these are the places that should be on your shortlist.
