Stealing Beauty is a 1996 drama film directed by Bernardo Bertolucci and starring Liv Tyler, Joseph Fiennes, Jeremy Irons, Sinéad Cusack, and Rachel Weisz.
The film is about a nineteen-year-old American lady who travels to a lovely Tuscan house near Siena to visit with family friends of her poet mother, who recently died. It was written by Bertolucci and Susan Minot. Tyler’s first main film role came in this multinational co-production involving France, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Stealing Beauty debuted in Italy in March 1996 and was officially selected for the Cannes Film Festival in France the following month. On June 14, 1996, it was released in the United States. During the summer of 1995, the film was shot entirely in the Tuscany area of Italy. The estate of Castello di Brolio and a tiny home on the site served as the primary filming location.
