A colorful, impressionistic depiction of Rome through the eyes of one of its most renowned people. Roma, often known as Fellini’s Roma, is a 1972 semi-autobiographical comedy-drama film about filmmaker Federico Fellini’s childhood migration from Rimini to Rome. It’s a love letter to the city, told via a series of loosely related vignettes set in both Rome’s past and present. The narrative is simple, and the only “character” that grows meaningfully is Rome. The film stars mostly newbies, including Peter Gonzales as the young Fellini.
