Jean-Louis Xavier Trintignant (November 11, 1930 – June 17, 2022) was a French actor.

He made his theatrical debut in 1951 and went on to be regarded as one of the most outstanding French dramatic performers of the postwar era, appearing in numerous great European films. Roger Vadim, Costa-Gavras, Claude Lelouch, Claude Chabrol, Bernardo Bertolucci, Éric Rohmer, François Truffaut, Krzysztof Kielowski, and Michael Haneke were among his collaborators. And God Created Woman (1956) was his critical and financial debut, followed by a star-making romantic role in A Man and a Woman (1966), and The Great Silence (1967). (1968).
