Castle Castello Piccolomini is located in Capestrano, Abruzzo’s Province of L’Aquila.
The medieval fort, whose main tower is still standing, was replaced by the castle. The edifice was altered by several families, including the Medici, Acquaviva, and Piccolomini, and was finished in 1485.
The castle had a significant renovation in 1924 and is now utilized as the city hall. The castle is made up of two L-shaped buildings, the bigger of which includes the main entrance from the town’s center plaza and faces southwest. The original medieval tower faces north-east in the interior courtyard, which also features a well in the center.
