Italy marks 12th anniversary of L’Aquila earthquake

(ANSA) – ROME, APR 6 – Italy on Tuesday marks the 12th anniversary of the 2009 earthquake that devastated the Abruzzo city of L’Aquila and the surrounding area, claiming 309 lives.
    Church bells will be rung 309 times in the city to remember the victims.
    COVID-19 restrictions mean that it will not be possible to have a torch-lit procession but people will put candles outside their windows to pay their respects. (ANSA).
