Mario Alberto Lattuada (Vaprio d’Adda, November 14, 1914 – Orvieto, July 3, 2005) was a distinguished Italian filmmaker and critic. Born in Vaprio d’Adda, he went on to leave an indelible mark on the Italian cinema scene.

Career and Achievements Lattuada wore many hats throughout his career: he was a director, screenwriter, actor, film producer, film critic, and art critic. With an eclectic personality and a deep passion for literature, art, and photography, he was renowned for adapting numerous renowned novels into films. Not only did he work on cinematic projects but also took on large-scale productions for television.

One of the significant highlights of Lattuada’s career was his ability to recognize and promote budding talent. Over the years, he introduced and fostered the careers of many actresses, including Marina Berti, Carla Del Poggio (who later became his wife), Valeria Moriconi, Jacqueline Sassard, Catherine Spaak, Dalila Di Lazzaro, Teresa Ann Savoy, Nastassja Kinski, Clio Goldsmith, Barbara De Rossi, and Sophie Duez.
